NordMar Plastic: Implementation
NordMar Plastic will form and coordinate a dynamic inter diciplinary group of excellence well above the critical mass of resources available at national or regional level.
NordMar Plastic will gather and review available data on methods, results and monitoring, reach out and connect to other European and international projects and networks on harmonisation for cooperation and synergies.NordMar Plastic will emphasise on Nordic and Arctic conditions and evaluate if there are specific priorities or challenges necessary to focus on in this region. NordMar Plastic will create education material for children in elementary schools as well as practical assignments on reducing and recycling plastic.
International conference and workshop
NordMar Plastic will participate in the organisation of an international symposium on Plastics in the Arctic and Sub-Arctic Region, on 21-23 April 2020; “The threat of plastic to Arctic and sub-Arctic marine ecosystems”. The symposium is organised in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers, Arctic council, Government of Iceland, PAME, UNEP, IOC-UNESCO, OSPAR, ICES, IASC, Belfer Center and the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland.
